Snow Blankets Parts of Suffolk County

Nor'easter brings cold winds, frozen precipitation to area still recovering from Hurricane Sandy.

Area residents experienced up to four inches of snow, while others battled icy roads and treacherous conditions that led to Sachem School District closing for another day.

With the nor’easter bringing strong winds and wet heavy snow to the area, the number of power outages in Sachem grew to 4,273, an increase of roughly 500 from Wednesday's numbers, according to LIPA’s website Thursday morning.

But weather conditions are forecast to greatly improve over the next couple days. According to Weather.com, the forecast is for sunny skies Friday through Monday with temperatures rising into the low 60s by the start of next week.
