Sachem Patch Whiz Kid

Site launches new feature to honor kids every week.

Every week Sachem Patch will honor one deserving student in the Sachem Central School District with the title, "Whiz Kid."

Whiz Kid: Morgan David

Keys to awesomeness: Junior Girl Scout Morgan David of Girl Scouts of Suffolk County’s Troop 2305 (Farmingville) was presented with the Lehavah Award.  She was presented with a pin to wear on her scouting uniform, and a certificate by Cheryl Slatky of the JCOS Breakfast Committee and of the Suffolk County Council Girl Scouts.

As with all the religious emblems, the Lehavah Award, earned by Jewish Girl Scouts, is not an award for Scouting skills but rather an emblem authorized by the Girl Scouts of USA to be worn on the Scout's uniform after satisfactory completion of the necessary requirements.  This award, earned by the Jewish Girl Scout age 7 - 9 requires study concerned with home observance, synagogue worship, Jewish study, the Jewish community, Jewish Holidays, The Ten Commandments and The state of Israel. The Lehavah Emblem program for Brownie Girl Scouts included learning how their religion impacts all parts of their lives.
