PHOTOS: The 'Coolest' Back Yard In Sachem

Farmingville man takes advantage of frigid temps, builds personal hockey rink in back yard.

Sachem Patch received communication from a Farmingville man who built a hockey rink last week in his own back yard. Brian Wasson posted a gallery on his Facebook page of his family and the neighborhood kids zipping around on the rink during the last frigid cold spell.

"Was so much fun," Wasson messaged us on the Sachem Patch Twitter page. "Totaled near 15 hours of ice time last weekend. Slowly melting now, hopefully to refreeze again."

Our gallery shares a few of these photos. One caveat to the coolest back yard in Sachem: Wasson is a Ranger fan, and all non-Ranger gear had to be checked before you entered the ice.

Enjoy the photos.

This is so great! My brother in Bohemia installed one slaps. The kids love it.

Thanks, Mary & Cindy, for the comments. The rink is refreezing slowly (after that random 50 degree day a week or so ago) and the kids were able to skate on it this past Tuesday night. With the impending blizzard, there is hope again for another round of weekend skating. It is so much fun and we are so happy we set it up.
