For that Romantic Meal:
  • Hit up MOSAIC in St. James. Recently ranked as one of Newsday’s twelve most romantic restaurants on the Island, the intimate North Shore eatery features a daily five course tasting menu. Its special “Valentine’s Date Kit,” in effect Saturday through Monday’s most romantic of holidays, features everything from lobster-thyme butter baked cod to crispy foie gras cromesquis. Top it off with a s’more and numerous wine pairings, and you’ll be counting down the days until Valentine’s Day 2012.
  • Also in St. James is KITCHEN, A BISTRO, a French/Mediterranean restaurant celebrating Valentine’s Day with three course lunch and five course dinner options. An example Valentine’s Day dinner could include courses featuring kobe beef, grilled octopus with falafel and chickpea vinaigrette, gnocchi with boar ragu, steamed sea bass, and a dessert. Can’t make it on the 14th? Kitchen, A Bistro is celebrating V-Day every Monday this month. A seven-course taster will be offered on both the 21st and 28th for $68 ($100 with wine pairings). In addition to their own wine list, Kitchen, A Bistro offers BYOB with no corkage fee.
  • If you’d rather venture south, try THE SNAPPER INN in Oakdale. If it’s not too cold, sit outside – the restaurant overlooks the Connetquot River. If not, stay in and take in the view from one of the Inn’s many windows. This Friday, take advantage of the deal on oysters and try a Passion Fruit Martini. On Sunday, sample the Valentine’s Brunch and on Valentine’s Day itself (as well as Saturday night), check out the live music and the specials sure to get you in the mood.
When you want to relax:
  • Get a massage. Perhaps even a couples massage. In addition to its Smithtown office, ALL ABOVE MASSAGE THERAPY offers in-home massages Islandwide. Or try out one of the many spas in our DIRECTORY, such as the  which features side-by-side or couples massages for $170.
  • Watch a romantic movie. Revisit a classic like Casablanca or When Harry Met Sally via Netflix or head to Stony Brook to catch one of AMC Loews Stony Brook’s showings of 1984’s timeless Sixteen Candles (Sunday and Monday at 7 p.m.)
Don’t forget:
  • Stop at a local flower shop (, , , , ), and pick up something in bloom for your honey.
