Menorah Lighting Events Set For Sachem Area

Multiple ceremonies planned to kick off the start of Hanukah.

This year, for the first time an about 100 years, Hanakuh will coincide with the Thanksgiving holiday and the Sachem community is host to a number of Menorah Lighting festivals this week. Here's a look at where residents can celebrate the lighting of the Menorah in Sachem.

Ronkonkoma
The Ronkonkoma Chamber of Commerce is hosting a lighting ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 30 at Raynor Beach Park on Ronkonkoma Avenue. Rabbi Steven Moss will lead the festivities with song and prayer, followed by the lighting. Hot potato latkes and chocolate gelt will be served. 

Holbrook
Also on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. the Holbrook Chamber of Commerce will light the town Menorah in the Friendly Drugs parking lot; 1036 Main Street, Holbrook. Sing-alongs and hot chocolate are on the menu. 

Farmingville
The Town of Brookhaven will hold its annual menorah lighting on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 5 p.m. The lighting will take place at Town Hall at One Independence Hill, Farmingville. 

On the outskirts of Sachem?
The Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce is holding its Menorah lighting ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. in the Capital One Plaza. Rabbi Joel Levinson of Temple Beth El will oversee the proceedings. Refreshments will be served.
