Local National Guardsman Gets Promotion
Ronkonkoma soldier receives New York Army National Guard honor.
The New York Army National Guard announced that it has promoted Ronkonkoma native William Newton to the rank of Specialist in the guard.
The announcement came from National Guard Major General Patrick A. Murphy, who selected Newton in recognition of his "capability for additional responsibility and leadership."
Newton serves with Company F (Forward Support Company Infantry), 427th Brigade Support Battalion. Army National Guard promotions are offered to members for their overall performance, attitude, leadership ability and development potential, according to a release.
