Holtsville Hal Resting and Ready For Tomorrow

Holtsville Ecology Center to host Groundhog Day with prediction from locally famous rodent.

In another small victory for the decision to keep the Holtsville Ecology Center open, the Sachem community can look forward to seeing Holtsville Hal, as Groundhog Day is tomorrow.

The Brookhaven Wildlife Center recently launched an event page on Facebook for its annual Groundhog Day celebration, whereby the world's fuzziest meteorologist emerges from his burrow to tell us if we'll have an early spring, or six more weeks of winter.

Holtsville Hal will be out and about at 6:45 a.m. tomorrow at the Ecology Center. Refreshments will be served for all who attend, and the Wildlife Center will be holding a raffle afterward. The center will be open until 11 a.m. in case you want to stick around after hearing the news from the sometimes reliable weather-marmot.
