Holbrook Bar Holds Fundraiser For Family Of Murder Victim

Momo's Bar & Grill raises cash for son and girlfriend of Julian Pena, murdered in the parking lot shared by eatery last month.

The owners of Momo’s Bar and Grill held a fundraiser on Saturday for the family of Julian Pena, who was stabbed to death in the parking lot last month.

The fundraiser consisted of dozens of baskets for a Chinese Auction, a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle. According to Momo's owner Rich Comunale, the baskets were donated by bar patrons, liquor companies and other locals.

“I feel bad he lost his father,” Comunale said. Comunale organized the fundraiser. “Just raising all the money for the boy.”

The event raised about $5,000 for Jaeden Pena, Julian’s two year old son.

“It’s amazing what they did here,” said Natali Altenburg, Pena’s girlfriend. Pena was killed in the parking lot after a scuffle with a group that had reportedly been turned away at the door at Momo's. Since his death, three people have been arrested in connection with the incident, including Robert Gregory, who police say committed the actual stabbing. He's being charged with second-degree murder.
