Demolition Of Damaged Ronkonkoma Home Wednesday

A partially-collapsed Ronkonkoma house that suffered major fire damage almost three years ago is being demolished Wednesday, Islip Town announced Tuesday.

The residence at 808 Johnson Ave. is being torn down at 11 a.m. following what the town says has been a battle with the property owner in court to remove what is being called a "public nuisance." The town board passed legislation to demolish the home earlier this summer, and secured consent from the property's owner last week for the demolition.

In addition to members of the town board, the Ronkonkoma Civic Association and residents are expected to be at the demolition.

The site is across from Slocum Elementary School between Pamlico and Sycamore Avenues.
