Carolers Will Depart From Ronkonkoma To Spread XMas Cheer

Small group of dedicated volunteers fundraised for "Hope for the Holidays" event on December 17.

A small but spirited troupe of singers and gift-givers have teamed up this year to bring some holiday cheer to families who could use a little hope in Sachem.

The group, called "Hope for the Holidays," have been engaged in fundraising activities all year and are now poised to depart from Ronkonkoma on December 17 to deliver their holiday spirit.

"Instead of exchanging meaningless sweaters we will go into the local community with our friends, colleagues and children, sing carols to the families and bear gifts for them," Gail Carillo, a Holbrook resident and volunteer stated in an email.

According to Carillo, the idea was first conceptualized by restaurant owners in Patchogue and has grown from there. A caravan will be leaving its Ronkonkoma rendezvous at 6 p.m. and will travel out to select families.
