New Shopping Convenience, Movie Night, Sums Up Sachem's Happenings

Here's a list of some of the happenings in and around Sachem on this Thursday, August 1.

Two Sachem Area Contestants For Miss Long Island
In case you missed yesterday evening's post, two women from Nesconset are competing in this year's Miss Long Island and Miss Teen Long Island pageant, which is scheduled for August 11 at the Patchogue Theater for the Performing Arts. Applications are still open to compete.

Stop N' Shop Launches Online Pickup Service
Sachem area shoppers can now make grocery shopping even more convenient, as the Stop N' Shop on Portion Road in Lake Ronkonkoma announces the launch of its online order and pickup service. Using the supermarket's sister company Peapod, shoppers can now click on their groceries from home and then pick them up without having to cruise the aisles.

Free Blood Pressure Testing
If you haven't had your blood pressure taken in a while, now's your chance to do it without having to dish out a co-pay. The Sachem Public Library is offering free blood pressure testing today starting at noon. A nurse will administer the test. Go to the Adult Services Reference desk between 12 and 1 p.m. 

Evening Movie
Head down to the Sachem Public Library tonight at 6:30 p.m. in Community Room A for a free screening of "Parental Guidance," a family comedy that highlights the generation gap and parenting differences. Starring Billy Crystal and Marisa Tomei. 

Ronkonkoma FD's "Movie Under The Stars"
If you're more in the mood to watch a film outside under the summer stars, head over to the Ronkonkoma Fire Department tonight at around 8:30 p.m. for their screening. Patch will announce the movie title later today.
