Holtsville Civic Meeting, Brookhaven Wildlife Volunteer Drive Sums Up Sachem News

Here's a list of some of the happenings in and around Sachem on this Tuesday, August 13.

Back To School Messages. Check back with Sachem Patch later today to hear some encouraging back-to-school messages from some of Sachem's most recognizable people. 

Learning Moments Open House. The Farmingville Kindercare on North Ocean Avenue is holding an open house today from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. From the company's description: "This is your chance to explore our center, talk to teachers, and meet other parents." Attendees will be entered into a contest to win a year's tuition for free.

Barnes & Noble Story Time. Head over to the Barnes & Noble bookstore at the Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove today at 11 a.m. for "How Our Garden Grows." This event features children's stories about beautiful gardens. 

Just Groovin' Takes The Stage. The Nesconset Summer Concert Series continues tonight at 7:30 at the Nesconset Gazebo with Just Groovin. The band plays all the dance hits of the 1970s. LI Cares will be on site to collect food, cash or check donations. Bring your own lawn chair for this outdoor event.

Holtsville Civic Meeting. The Holtsville Civic Association is holding its regular meeting in the Adult Area Meeting Room of the Sachem Public Library at 10 a.m. this morning. Members and prospective members should head over to get involved in the Holtsville community.

Volunteer At Brookhaven Wildlife Center. Volunteers are needed to help the Brookhaven Wildlife Center make signs for upcoming fundraising events. According to the center's Facebook page, the organization meets today at 4:30 p.m. in the Information Building at the Ecology Center. If you are able to help out, email bwcholtsville@yahoo.com.
