The Sachem North Drama Club presents the musical comedy Hairspray.
The Sachem High School North Drama Club performed three sold out showings last week of the musical comedy Hairspray, presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International. The sidesplitting musical is based on the movie by John Waters, featuring lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman, with music by Marc Shaiman. Produced by Bill Averso, it was another high-octane and audaciously riotous performance with charismatic director Jonathan Chiaramonte at the helm. The impeccable production, with shows from Thursday-Saturday, had the audience breaking out into uproarious laughter from the opening number "Good Morning Baltimore" until the end of the more than two-hour performance. "Pavlov’s Cats and Thirty Other Short Takes from Mensa Monthlies" is a new book by Joan Tobin.
Local author Joan Tobin has recently had her new book, “Pavlov’s Cats and Thirty Other Short Takes from Mensa Monthlies” published. It is a novelty collection of a variety of offerings, including observations, personal experiences and essays. The means of expression include prose, verse and short stories, according to RoseDog Books, the publishing company. Sachem East Drama Club presents CATS the musical.
The Sachem High School East Drama Club presented CATS, the musical composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber and based on Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot, for three well-attended performances which ran from Thursday, March 22 through Saturday, March 24. The young cast and crew, led by producer and director Ken Dobbins, put on a fabulous show of frolicking feline fun, imbued with heartfelt emotion. The legendary CATS is the second longest-running musical in Broadway history. Drama students have another wonderful musical in store.
This spring, the Sachem North Drama Club will perform "Hairspray". The show will take place Thursday, March 29 through Saturday, March 31. Tickets are $12. To see a list of the cast and characters and learn more, click here.
