Sachem Student Tours John Lennon Bus

As part of BOCES program, students went into interactive tour mobile.

Music poured from the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus last week as Sachem senior Dylan Shea waited his turn for a tour of the mobile recording facility that was established through an agreement with Yoko Ono Lennon.

Students enrolled in Eastern Suffolk BOCES creativity courses, at the Milliken Tech Center in Oakdale, were offered a chance to see the state-of-the-art audio and HD video recording and production vehicle.

Sachem CSD senior Dylan Shea played guitar in the Lennon demo tent outside the Lennon Bus as he waited for his turn on the tour.

“This is out of this world; it’s crazy,” said Shea, who hopes to be a music producer. “It’s awesome.”

According to BOCES, the bus is dedicated to providing young people with the opportunity to participate in songwriting and multimedia production workshops.

Guest artist Alex Skolnick, the lead guitarist in the American heavy metal band Testament, arrived the day after Shea at the bus.

“I wish I had the opportunity to learn in the John Lennon Bus when I was a student,” he said in a statement. “I wish every school could have an educational bus like this one. It’s my pleasure to be here today to work with BOCES students.”
