Retired Teacher From Holbrook Arrested For Child Porn

Police raid Arnold Street home, seize computer and other media from former Catholic high school teacher.

Update, 5:15 p.m. Friday.

Arshad Majid, the attorney representing Thomas Bouklas, told Newsday that his client is charged with having only one image on his computer and denies any criminal intent.

"We believe this is a mistake and a misunderstanding," Majid said, adding that Bouklas voluntarily surrendered to police.

Although retired, Bouklas was an assistant coach of the St. John's girls soccer team. The Diocese of Rockville Centre said he has been terminated pending the outcome of the investigation.

Suffolk Police are accusing a retired Catholic school teacher from Holbrook of possessing child pornography and storing it on his home computer.

After an investigation by detectives in the Computer Crimes Unit, police searched the Arnold Street home of Thomas Bouklas, 64, and seized his computers, hard drives and assorted media. Bouklas is a retired teacher and former soccer coach at St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School in West Islip.

Detectives say they had gathered enough evidence that Bouklas, had been downloading and storing child pornography to his computer through the internet.

Bouklas was charged with Possessing a Sexual Performance of a Child and processed at the Seventh Precinct in Shirley before being transported to First District Court in Central Islip.
