Out to Eat: Irish Times

Holbrook pub is a sports bar, restaurant and watering hole.

On your first step inside of Irish Times, you feel like you have been there before and that you had a good time.  The atmosphere is warm, friendly and evokes confidence.  You know you are going to eat well, smile a lot and enjoy your time in this old fashion Irish pub.

The restaurant is very large, but designed to make you feel at home, in all of their different rooms and venues.  The main bar is very long, with polished wood and brass.

The bar stools look plentiful and comfortable and spacious booths line one wall.  The back wall is all doors, leading to their outdoor all season patio and bar area.  To the left when you enter is another room with a bar, a dozen tables and a beautiful fireplace.  Large screen monitors hang in every corner, so those addicted to sports or the stock market will never suffer withdrawal.

The food is just as delicious as the "feel" of Irish Times. Whether lunch or dinner, eat in, takeout or full service, the meals are huge, savory and mouthwatering. On this particular visit the carnivore side of the pub's menu were sampled.  Both the cheeseburger and the prime rib were great choices.

The mix of onion rings and fries pushed the burger platter to the top of my favorites list.  The gigantic piece of prime rib was smothered with crisp onion strings and surrounded by carrots and a Spanish rice.  It was so large it had a Flintstones type of look about it. But it was delicous.

The Irish Times menu is very diverse, appealing to more than only beef eaters.  Tuesday is pasta night and Wednesday features seafood.  Their vast menu offers sections devoted to wraps, soups and salads.  I highly recommend the French onion soup.  It looked amazing, smelled incredible and tasted even better.

The Irish Times comes alive after dark, with entertainment from Thursday night Midnight Acoustic Madness to a Saturday night dance party.  But the food service is always there to feed you, offering "finger food" for the gods.  Their Appetizer Sampler featured chicken fingers; crisp, meaty and delicious.  The baked clams went down quickly and made you want to order more.  The wings defined what HOT should be and the baked potato skins melted in your mouth.
