North's Lang Verbally Commits to UMBC

Becomes third player of 2011 class to pick a school for lacrosse.

Sachem North lacrosse player Tim Lang has verbally committed to play college lacrosse at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County.

Lang, who is entering his senior season, is the third player of the Class of 2011 to commit to a school.

"Tim is a big strong kid with great fundamentals," said Sachem North head coach Jay Mauro. "He's extremely coachable with a very high ceiling and is only going to get better everytime he steps on the field."

He joins teammates Michael Andreassi (University of Massachusetts) and Jake Cabble (Robert Morris University) as the district's earliest athletic commitments for next year's graduating class.

"It's a true testament to our program," said Mauro of the early commitments. "It shows that hard work pays off and our program is headed in the right direction of our ultimate goal and that's winning states and being recognized around the country."

In 2010, UMBC finished 4-9 as one of the weaker teams in the America East Conference, but has been a perennial favorite and is a well-known Division I lacrosse program.
