North's Jack Gannon Commits to UMBC

Joins the impressive list of future college athletes at Sachem.

Sachem North junior Jack Gannon will be joining teammate Tim Lang at the University of Maryland- Baltimore County to play college lacrosse.

Gannon is the second junior to commit after Cody Petillo (Rutger's). He is also the ninth player on this year's roster to commit. There are more expected to make a decision soon for Sachem, which is ranked No. 4 in pre-season polls in Suffolk County.

"Jack has been with us for two years on the varsity and has made an impact each year," said Sachem North head coach Jay Mauro. "He's a great kid who will continue to work hard and continue to get better and improve the team."

In 2010, UMBC finished 4-9 as one of the weaker teams in the America East Conference, but has been a perennial favorite and is a well-known Division I lacrosse program.

Other Sachem lacrosse players who have committed, include: Angelo Armine (Molloy), Michael Andreassi (UMass), Jake Cabble (Robert Morris), Alex Harris (Stony Brook), Fred Golini (Hartwick) and George Raum (Adelphi).
