Kinkaid Makes 10 Saves in NHL Debut with Devils

Helps New Jersey beat Rangers in pre-season action.

Sachem East alum Keith Kinkaid made 10 saves and allowed no goals in his NHL debut Wednesday night with the New Jersey Devils during pre-season action.

"I thought (Kinkaid) was outstanding," Devils coach Pete DeBoer told the Star Ledger newspaper.

The Devils beat the Rangers, 2-1, in overtime, thanks to a Patrik Elias goal 45 seconds into the extra period at Times Union Center in Albany.

Kinkaid, who signed with the Devils last spring, saw 31:13 of ice time in the game. He did not record the victory as teammate Jeff Frazee allowed a goal in the third period and was in net when Elias scored.

Martin Brodeur, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury, did not play.
